What changes

The same face, better lit.

Nothing about your features changes. What changes is how the skin over them behaves.

  1. 01

Small bumps on the day, gone by morning.

  2. 02

At two weeks, the skin looks less dull.

  3. 03

How it works

Water held where a cream cannot go.

A moisturiser works on the surface of the skin, which is the layer already made of dead cells. A skin booster is uncross-linked or lightly cross-linked hyaluronic acid placed in the dermis, below that — the living layer a cream cannot reach. Hyaluronic acid holds many times its weight in water, so a grid of small deposits keeps that layer hydrated from within.

Because the gel is soft and spread thinly, it does not hold a shape the way a filler does. That is the point: it is a change in skin quality, not in facial structure.

  1. 01

    The skin dries

The dermis holds less water with age, and skin that holds less water scatters light instead of reflecting it.

  2. 02

    The gel goes in

Many small deposits across the area, in the dermis rather than under it.

  3. 03

    It holds water

The hydrated layer reflects light again, which is what reads as skin looking well.

What to expect

Two weeks, then again.

Each session builds on the last. One on its own is a smaller change than the series.

  1. Day 0

    The appointment

Small raised bumps where each deposit went in. They flatten overnight.

  2. Week 2

    The first change

The skin looks less dull and feels different to the touch before it looks different in a mirror.

  3. After the series

    The result

Two or three sessions in, the change in quality is at its clearest.

  4. Month 4 to 6

    Upkeep

A single session twice a year holds it. Without one it returns to baseline.

Your visit

One appointment, about 45 minutes.

Most of it is the numbing cream working.

  1. 01

    First 15 minutes

    The evaluation

The physician establishes whether dryness or looseness is the actual problem. They need different treatments.

  2. 02

    Before anything is injected

    The plan and the price

Areas, millilitres, how many sessions, and the cost, agreed in writing.

  3. 03

    Same appointment

    The treatment

Numbing cream, then a grid of very small injections across the area. Ten to fifteen minutes.

Preparation and aftercare

Before and after your visit.

  • Skip alcohol the night before

It makes small bruises more likely.

  • Come with a clean face

Numbing cream works better on bare skin.

  • Allow extra time

The cream needs twenty minutes before we start.

  • Say if you get cold sores

Injections around the mouth can wake one.
